Johnny has been with us since the very beginning. We picked up his mom and siblings when they were just a few days old and brought them safely to the shelter, where Johnny has grown into the handsome, reserved gentleman he is today.
With his unique light brindle coat and soft light-brown eyes, Johnny turns heads without even trying. He enjoys a good play session now and then, but he truly shines during the quiet moments. Johnny is a laid-back soul who’s perfectly content observing the world around him, catching up on sleep, or simply being near his favorite people.
He absolutely melts when his head is gently rubbed and craves calm, affectionate attention. Johnny appreciates his downtime and would thrive in a home that values peaceful companionship as much as he does.

When animals in our care at HelpAWS become eligible for adoption, interested parties can apply for a specific animal or for a litter in general by completing the online application,
located at www.helpaws.com/adopt/. Applications are processed by our Adoptions Team, and phone interviews are scheduled with each applicant. The interview is approximately one (1) hour long. After the interview, the Adoptions Team will request photos of the applicant’s home and yard and, if applicable, will conduct a veterinarian check (for applicants with other pets) and/or two (2) reference checks from the list provided by the applicant. Once all phone interviews have been completed and photos reviewed, the Adoptions Team will either approve or deny the applicant. Approvals will be matched with a specific animal based on their lifestyle and the animal’s personality/needs and will be informed via a group chat on Facebook Messenger. The applicant will then receive a follow up email with the relevant adoption details, including the Adoption Agreement, payment expectations and flight info. The animal will then be flown to his/her appropriate destination and transferred into the care of his/her new owner(s).

HelpAWS (Help Animal Welfare in Saint Lucia) is a 501c3 non-profit corporation founded by Canadian Charlene Troubetzkoy in 2014 after witnessing the severe overpopulation and neglected state of animals on the Eastern Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. HelpAWS is dedicated to enriching the quality of life for both people and animals through education, providing care to stray, abandoned, and/or injured animals, and controlling the animal overpopulation through spay and neuter.
