Meet Owen.
A cat with a restless heart and a life interrupted.
Owen came to us because he needed medical care. Because someone stepped in when there was nowhere else for him to go. It was the right thing to do. It saved his life. But for Owen, being saved also meant being confined. And that part has been hard.
Owen is not happy indoors. Not angry. Not dangerous. Just deeply, unmistakably unhappy. The walls feel too close. The sounds are wrong. The instincts that kept him alive are still humming under his skin.
Owen longs for the life he knows. Open air. Dirt under his paws. Quiet mornings and busy nights. He wants to hunt mice again. To do the work cats like him were born to do.
We don’t know where Owen came from.
We don’t know how long he lived outside before help found him.
What we do know is that outside is where he feels whole.
Saved by Zade does not remove feral cat colonies. But sometimes a cat comes into our care who cannot return to where they were found. Sometimes they need healing first. Sometimes they need a new place entirely.
Owen is receiving the care he needs. He has been fixed and vaccinated. What he needs next is not a couch or a cat tree. He needs a safe outdoor home. A barn. A workshop. A property where he can patrol, hunt, and exist without being asked to become something he is not.
Keeping cats like Owen inside indefinitely is not kindness.
Giving them the right environment is.
If you have a barn or appropriate outdoor shelter and would be willing to offer Owen or a kitty like Owen a place to belong, please reach out to us.
