Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Corduroy!
Corduroy is a 1-year-old, 51-lb shepherd mix with a big heart, a brilliant mind, and the softest coat you can imagine. He’s the perfect blend of playful puppy energy and easygoing charm, making him an absolute joy to have around.
This handsome boy loves to play fetch and is a total pro. He always brings the ball right back and drops it at your feet, ready for the next throw. He also enjoys long walks, where he does wonderfully on leash and is easy to redirect if he gets a little excited. When playtime is over, Corduroy is more than happy to cuddle on the couch, often climbing into your lap for a sweet snuggle, but he’s never overly clingy. When it’s time to rest, he’ll settle himself comfortably nearby, sometimes resting his head on your legs or lap.
Corduroy is incredibly smart and eager to learn. He already knows “sit” and “touch” and is quickly picking up commands like “lay down,” “stay,” “leave it,” “gentle,” and “come.” We often joke that it’s like he speaks English. He loves having something to work on, whether that’s learning a new command or enjoying a Kong or puzzle toy. He’s learning to love his crate too, especially when comfy blankets and enrichment toys are involved.
He is fully potty trained and has had zero accidents in the house. Corduroy is friendly with all people and dogs and plays beautifully with our resident dog. He responds well to corrections and is not aggressive. He’s also starting to warm up to car rides and continues to improve every day.
Because of his playful, puppy-like enthusiasm, we recommend a home with older children, as he could accidentally knock over a smaller kiddo. He would do great in a home with or without another dog and would love a yard where he can run and play.
Corduroy is truly a gem. He’s sweet, social, intelligent, and endlessly lovable, all wrapped up in the perfect medium-sized package.
📍 Corduroy is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $275.00.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
