Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It is time for Pongo to find a family to call his own - this boy is simply amazing and don't let him being deaf hold you back - I always say that deaf dogs are some of the smartest dogs and he is indeed a very smart boy.
Pongo came to us in September with a fractured leg that required a specialist to repair and now you would never know anything every happened to him - of course Dr. Crouch and his staff did an amazing job - Pongo was not to happy about the strict crate rest for 8 weeks - but we managed and then it was time to neuter him and he did great for that as well.
Pongo is 8 months old and weighs 40 pounds - we do not believe he will get much bigger - he is an Aussie Mix with those ice blue eyes and again he is deaf. We would prefer a fenced in yard for him as he loves to run his zoomies outside. Pongo does great with other dogs and is currently not fostered with cats - while he was recovering from his orthopedic surgery he was fostered with cats but because he was not allowed to roam freely due to healing , he never had many interactions with them - he acted curious about them but never showed any signs of aggression - this boy loves to play ball and actually loves all his toys - he is still a puppy and does have a lot of energy. His one quirk - if you want to call it that - is he can't be kenneled in a wire crate - he will chew his way out - an airline crate or impact crate is needed as we do recommend crating him if you work or leave the house for a bit as he is a puppy and will look for something to get into - he whines a little when first crated but quits quickly as he realizes he has toys in there. He is a HUGE people dog and loves every single person he meets. He is a curious boy which is not uncommon for deaf dogs - he does great on a leash and is house trained and crate trained.
Pongo is current on his core vaccines, has had a full bloodwork panel done, current on heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention , dewormed, neutered and microchipped. His adoption fee is $250.00
As a reminder all of our dogs are in private foster homes throughout Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina - we do not have a facility and we do not board our dogs - the first step in our adoption process is filling out our adoption application which can be found on our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org - once the application is received and reviewed (if there are other animals in the home we do vet references and require all animals in the home to be spayed/neutered - unless there is a medical reason they can't be - up to date on vaccines and current on monthly heartworm prevention ) and then the foster will get in touch with the potential adopter - if both parties feel like it could be a good fit - we would set up a meet and greet - we never do adoptions on the spot - we do a 7-14 day trial run before finalizing any adoption to make sure it is the right fit for the dog and the family
Let's find this amazing boy the perfect forever home - he is so deserving and is going to bring a lot of smiles and happiness to some very lucky family

All of our rescues are fostered in separate homes, as we do not have a facility yet. We do have occasional adoption events, which can be found on our website calendar at www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org or on our Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/boxerbuttsandothermutts

More about this rescue
We are located in Western North Carolina. We do adopt out of the area with transport, although, certain dogs have to be adopted locally, and that is always stated in the description. If you adopt a puppy out of our area or choose to use a different vet, we have an application amendment to be filled out as well for the spay/neuter & vaccine contract.
