James Dean ACCT-A-241538 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. James Dean must have confirmed placement with an experienced ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by FRIDAY, January 30TH at 10AM. Should James Dean's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal.
James Dean is a gentle gentleman who was found outside of a Dunkin Donuts. He weighs a little over six pounds, and is estimated to be about thirteen years old. We aren't sure how long this guy was alone on the streets, but a kind stranger let him into the store for donuts and coffee.
With an unregistered microchip from a clinic to go off, our team was able to secure a phone number for an owner, but we were unable to make contact. Unfortunately, James Dean is in no condition to be wandering the streets, since he has hyperthyroidism that requires ongoing management, anemia, and a gallop heart rhythm that may indicate more cardiac issues.

Behavior Notes
When our animal protection officers scooped James up, they noted that he was "easy to handle, and friendly." In his kennel, he's very relaxed and calm, and enjoys gentle pets to his head and back.
An experienced adopter or dedicated rescue partner should be willing to follow up with an outside vet in 3-4 weeks for repeat bloodwork, or sooner, if James Dean is not doing well. With ongoing management, and his blood work monitored long-term, it's possible the gallop pattern of his heart rhythm will resolve, in the event they are connected.
