My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Herk is a 6-year-old red purebred dachshund (born October 29, 2019) who weighs about 15 pounds. He is neutered, calm, affectionate, and bonds closely with his people.
We're rehoming Herk because our son's severe dog allergies have progressed despite every effort. He now spends too much time confined and deserves a home where he can roam freely and get the love he's used to.
Herk has lived with another small dog and does best in a home with one other dog for companionship; he's not suited for a home with multiple dogs as he thrives on attention. He needs daily walks or activity.
Herk had a liver shunt repaired in 2020 and back surgery in January 2025; both fully recovered. He needs standard dachshund back care: no jumping, limited stairs, no rough play.
He eats The Farmer's Dog (turkey, beef, pork) twice daily with pumpkin. No chicken.
Vet records available. We seek a calm, loving home where Herk will get the attention and companionship he thrives on.
