Breaker #24188 is a male mixed breed weighing approximately 65lbs. October 2025, marks the 13th month anniversary of his shelter life. This is not an anniversary we like to celebrate.
Breaker is a high energy extremely playful guy that is estimated to be about 2.5 years old at this time. He LOVES to play! This would be a fantastic dog for a family with an active lifestyle and/or a fenced yard for play. He is a beautiful brown/brindle with speckled feet and chest.
He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and is now heartworm NEGATIVE!!
Breaker is handled by males and females, adults, and children; he does great with all. He is very smart. He is treat motivated and learns quickly with reward. We do not have cats an cannot assess his reaction to them.

More about this rescue

HAA is a group of volunteers moving dogs from the Hardeman County animal control kill facility. We place them in a shelter that is located in the county landfill, but operated by the HAA volunteers. The dogs are then evaluated, cared for by a veterinarian if necessary, and placed on our list of available, adoptable dogs. All dogs taken in are strays, owner surrenders or breeder throwaways. HAA protects the dogs from euthanasia, adopt them out to appropriate homes or deliver them to rescue groups who can place them. Very seldom do we know the history of the dogs.

The county has agreed to let volunteers run the shelter within limits. They will let us care for the dogs and try to get them adopted out. Our job is to keep the shelter from getting full. Once it is full then dogs will be put down. We are always in need of people to help care for the dogs. We also need supplies and money for medical attention.

We are a 501(c)(3) organization, and contributions are tax deductible. We have an account set up at the local vet for anyone wishing to help with medical funds: Old Hatchie Veterinary Clinic, 1017 N.
