My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Is this seat taken? My name is Samwise, Sam for short, and I am looking for a warm lap to snooze on. HEALTH NOTICE: My people believe I may have been hit by a car before they found me in the garden. My jaw hurts sometimes so it’s best if my food is softened. I have other symptoms of injuries that didn’t heal correctly. I can be a little clumsy and sometimes I hurt a little, but all that doesn’t slow me down! I just wanted to let you know since it makes me a little different.

I’m really just an ordinary kitty. I like to jump up on windowsills and watch the world. I like to scratch so please give me a post or something fun for my claws. I’ll play with fuzzy mice, cardboard boxes, and I love messing up the bathroom mat. I also have an affinity to jump in the shower or tub after you’re done using them. Maybe I want to wash my paws. I’m not particularly shy with people and I’m cautiously curious of new things. But most of all, I want to sit with you. Or on you. I purr the moment you look my way or pat my head.

  • Good with other cats? Probably not. I stayed at another home for a short while and the resident cat and I did not get along too well.
  • Good with dogs? Yes! I like to play with my dog brothers, but I’ll need a dog that can be gentle.
  • Good with kids? I would prefer older kids who will understand that I’ll need gentle handling.

I am spayed. I am not declawed. I am up to date on vaccines. I have tested negative for kitty leukemia and HIV/AIDS. Potential adopters with mobility issues beware: I do like to occasionally pounce on the passing foot or run across your path when I’m feeling playful. Due to my health needs, it would be best if I remain an indoor kitty. I live in Salem with my caregiver and my rehoming fee is $100.

Additional adoption info

Adoptable cats and kittens are shown on our website with detailed profiles and pictures. To help our potential adopters learn more about the cat(s), we encourage them to first contact and discuss with the foster family if it might be a good fit. Potential adopters must submit an adoption application for review and evaluation.

We require that adopted cats be mainly indoor cats and no declawing is allowed. Adopters must be over 21 years old and sign a contract that lists out his/her responsibility as the cat's owner.

More about this rescue

Cat's Cradle Rescue keeps cats out of shelters by offering an alternative to a cage - we are a no-kill FOSTER-HOME BASED rescue group that welcomes cats to our home environments as they await adoption.

Why Foster Care? Does your new kitty like children? Does she play with dogs or find other felines too uncomfortable to be around? Does he have consistent litter-box manners? Does he want to cuddle or perhaps his comfort zone is to be more independent. Many life-factors influence cat behavior and while genetics plays a role, we know that human touch, kindness, nurturing and consistency of care are non-negotiable requirements. We provide all of this.
