My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***Weems has been diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy and has been started on phenobarbital. This is a medication that must be given at specific times and cannot be missed.***

***Must have prior breed experience or similar breed experience to adopt Weems. German Shepherds are NOT similar to Malinois.***

MEET WEEMS.
He is a 1 year old, neutered, Belgian Malinois whose internal setting is permanently stuck on “GO.”

Weems wakes up every morning like:
“Hello. I have legs. You have legs. We should be using them IMMEDIATELY.”

FACTS ABOUT WEEMS:
• High energy ✔️
• Social ✔️
• Friendly ✔️
• Thinks sitting is suspicious ✔️
• Believes naps are a post-exercise rumor ✔️

Does he have extreme working drive?
❌ No.

Does he believe movement is a constitutional right?
✅ Yes. He will argue this in court.

Weems is looking for:
🏃‍♂️ A VERY active, Malinois-experienced home
🌲 People who say “just a walk” and then disappear for an hour
🧠 Humans who understand this breed but are NOT trying to recruit a tactical asset

🚫🚔 ABSOLUTELY DO NOT 🚔🚫
Tag police departments, K9 units, or search & rescue.
Weems has already been evaluated and is not appropriate for those roles.
He will not:
• Catch bad guys
• Locate missing persons
• Join a unit

He WILL:
• Sprint for no reason
• Stare at you like it’s your fault
• Make cardio unavoidable
• Pass out dramatically like he paid rent

If you want:
✔️ A dog who turns walks into events
✔️ A best friend who thinks fitness is bonding
✔️ Someone who will haunt you if you skip leg day

WEEMS IS READY.

🏡 Adopt responsibly. Hydrate. Stretch.

Side effects may include sore calves, better mental health, and a dog who believes you exist solely to facilitate movement. 🐕💀

Meet the Pet

Potential adopter(s) will meet the dog. At this time there will also be a meet and greet between any other pets included in the household.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process consists of an initial application for the animal of interest, followed by reference checks (both personal and with a veterinarian), a home visit, and finally if approved an adoption contract. All animals are required to be inside companion pets and the owner must maintain veterinary care throughout the life of the animal.

Adoption fees are $150 for dogs, unless it is fostered through us for another rescue and $75 for cats.

All animals are up to date with vaccinations and spayed/neutered before adoption.

Go meet their pets

Arrangements can be made to visit with any of our pets, but because we are foster based and do not have one facility, appointments must be made to do so. To visit with a pet, please contact us at 814-421-7078 by phone or text.

More about this rescue

We are a small foster based rescue, not a shelter, comprised of multiple individuals that open their homes to stray, sick, and forgotten animals in need. We began the rescue in the Ligonier Area to focus on issues of stray, abandoned, and neglected animals. We often took in animals for the local police departments instead of having them sent to animal control. We have since expanded and try to cooperate with the public, other rescues, and other animal groups to assist any animal in need. Our primary focus area for intake though is still the Ligonier Valley. Adoptions can be made to any area as long as the adoption process is completed.
