My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sharknado — aka Sharky — is a big boy with an even bigger heart. After surviving more than a year and a half on the streets of Minneapolis, he was finally brought indoors by a dedicated rescuer and quickly decided that warmth, safety, and love are exactly where he belongs. When it’s time to relax, Sharky wants to be as close to you as physically possible. Lap? Yes. Face? Also yes. He’ll even reach up and gently touch your face while you pet him, as if he’s making sure you’re real and that this safe, loving life isn’t just a dream. His purr is enormous, deep, and constant — a true rumble of contentment. More than anything, Sharky wants connection, so his future family should have the time and heart to give him the affection he craves.

His slightly ragged ears hint at a tough past with frostbite and unfriendly tomcats, but Sharky himself is nothing but gentle. He adores people, has the tiniest, sweetest meow for such a large cat, and would likely enjoy sharing his home with a calm, friendly feline companion.

Because he once had to compete for meals, Sharky prefers a monitored feeding routine and feels most comfortable eating with his person nearby. Structure helps him feel secure. When it’s time to relax, he’s pure velcro — lap cat, chest cat, and occasional face cat.

Sharky can be a little shy at first and would do best starting out in one room in a calm home. He’s still learning about toys, but squeeze-up treats are already a favorite. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who’s ready to love with his whole heart, Sharky is ready to meet you.

Sharknado is fixed, microchipped, FIV/FeLv negative, and up to date on vaccinations for his age.

More about this rescue

Twin Cities Pet Rescue (TCPR) is a small, 501c3 nonprofit, companion animal rescue organization. TCPR does not have a facility and is 100% foster-based. TCPR rescues dogs, cats and small animals of all breeds; rescuing them from city impounds, puppy mills, and other situations of abuse and neglect. Once rescued, all animals receive veterinary care ranging from spay/neuter, vaccines, microchips, and basic testing to specialty eye surgeries, pet dermatology care, and various other specialty treatments. Once an animal is rescued by TCPR, it remains in a foster home until adopted, no matter how long that might take.
TCPR often rescues animals that are considered “less adoptable” by other rescue organizations, as they are often the ones overlooked and truly left behind; and in need of the most help. These animals might be overlooked due to their age, health status, special needs or breed. TCPR works to help as many animals in need find their furever families as we can, especially helping those animals that need help most.
