My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you ever wanted a dog… but who is more like a cat?

Congratulations. Staci has entered the chat. Quietly. From across the room. But don’t talk to her.

Staci is shy, sensitive, and very much a “please don’t touch me, we can just coexist” kind of girl. She does not want pets, cuddles, or a bunch of attention. She will not crawl into your lap, demand affection, or tolerate you being all up in her business. Staci prefers to live alongside her people, not on top of them — and honestly, we respect the boundaries.

Her confidence comes from another dog, and that part is non-negotiable. Staci MUST have a playful canine roommate. Please don't apply if you don't have another confident, playful dog. A confident dog shows her the ropes, helps her feel safe, and unlocks her favorite activity: running and chasing like her life depends on it. When she’s with another dog, she comes alive — zoomies, playful chases, and all.

Think of Staci as a cat who:
Goes outside to potty
Needs a dog bestie instead of a scratching post
Shows love by existing peacefully in the same space.

She’s fearful and shy at first, but given time, patience, and the right dog companion, she settles into a calm, low-maintenance presence that doesn’t demand anything from you except respect. Staci is a huge flight risk and will require a secure fence and someone who is willing to always supervise her while she's outside. She's not a "hang out in the backyard unattended" kind of girl. She needs someone who understands that if she gets away from them, we are likely not getting her back.

Staci isn’t for people who want a Velcro dog.
She’s for people who appreciate quiet companionship, independence, and a dog who loves you in a very cat-coded way.

She will not love you the day that you meet her. She will not love you next month. She may love you in six months, but she also may not. 🤷‍♀️
If that sounds like your vibe… Staci might just be your soulmate. 🐱🐶✨

Staci's adoption fee is $225 and includes her spay, microchip, vaccinations, and flea/tick & heartworm preventatives. Meet and Greets can be scheduled with Approved Adopters so get your application in today!

Go meet their pets

Where are you located?
Pawsitive Tails does not have a physical location. All of our dogs live in loving foster homes throughout the Kansas City and Topeka area. This allows fosters to get to know each dog personally, so we can find the very best home for them.

What are your hours?
As a foster based rescue, every person with Pawsitive Tails is a volunteer. Because we do not have a facility, we do not have “open” hours but can be contacted between 8am and 9pm.

Can I stop in to visit dogs and play with puppies?
No. We require an approved application to be on file before meeting our dogs/puppies. In addition, our dogs live in foster homes, so we must work around the foster parents’ schedule.

More about this rescue

Pawsitive Tails strives to be something different in the animal adoption community. We simply want to help dogs and puppies find new homes by matching the right dog to the right family.

Pawsitive Tails is a not for profit organization focused on finding forever homes for dog and puppies. We are not a shelter and we do not have a facility - all the dogs in our program live in foster homes.
