My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Leo is the closest thing you will find to a living, breathing teddy bear. This handsome gentleman is 8 years old and still full of ambition and energy. If you couldn't guess by his pointy ears, luscious coat, and long, thin snout; Leo is an Australian Shepherd!

Leo came to HSOC after his previous owners could no longer meet his needs, through absolutely no fault of his own. This sweet boy is simply looking for a soft place to land with people who can provide the stimulation, structure, and comfort an 8-year-old Aussie still thrives on.

Leo is not too picky when it comes to his ideal home. He has done well meeting other dogs in the HSOC office and we believe he could happily share a home with canine companions. Cats definitely caught his attention, but for his first time meeting kitty friends, Leo showed no anxiety or aggression. He has made it clear that little children are very fun to herd, so we recommend a home with older kiddos who can respect his boundaries and keep the excitement to a lower level.

Leo is currently pending an eye evaluation, and we expect to have more answers toward the end of February. Rest assured, HSOC will be with you every step of the way and happy to answer any questions once your application is submitted.

If you are looking for a loyal, intelligent companion with a heart of gold and the fluff of a teddy bear, Leo might just be your perfect match.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Oldham County is the areas first no kill animal rescue. We run a top notch spay\neuter clinic, rescue and find loving homes for homeless or abused animals in our area, monitor and care for feral cat colonies including TNR. We also help the community through our many programs including Kentucky State Reformatory(KSR) Camp K9 where dogs are housed with professionally trained, monitored, nonviolent inmates to socialize and train our adoptable dogs to be highly adoptable and have good basic skills. A wonderful program for the inmates and our dogs.
