Meet Rusty the Pug - a playful little boss with a big heart! 🧡
Rusty is a happy, fun-loving boy who absolutely adores playtime and toys of all kinds. If there’s something to chase, tug, or toss, Rusty is all in! He also loves being close to his people and is perfectly content curling up in your lap for some quality cuddle time.
This confident little guy has a big personality and likes to think he’s in charge — even with the big dogs (who may or may not take him seriously 😉). He’s full of spunk, charm, and confidence, and it just makes him that much more lovable.
At bedtime, Rusty is a wonderful sleeper and snuggles all night, though he often chooses his own cozy spot on the bed nearby, enjoying his independence while still staying close.
He’s also making great progress with his house manners and continues to improve every day. And while he may be small, Rusty is convinced he’s a mighty guard dog, always ready to protect his people — or at least let everyone know he’s on the job!
Rusty is the perfect mix of playful, cuddly, and confident, and he’s ready to bring a whole lot of joy (and laughs) to his forever home. 🐶✨

The shelter is located at 589 Coolwater Drive in Bastrop Texas. Please come meet our pets Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
