My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?”

SAAP Nation, please give an extra warm welcome to Romeo!!!

When I said “yes” to the shelter to foster Romeo, the picture and description was of a 6 month old, beagle mix, 10lb puppy. However, when I picked up Romeo from our vet to foster, I was greeted by a scared, but sweet, 1 and a half year old, almost 40lb, hound/shepherd/roti mix!! Are they even the same dog?? Yes, I think so, but the Romeo I picked up was maybe a year or more younger in the picture and description the shelter sent us.

What’s a girl to do?? Well, foster the sweetheart deserving of a forever home outside of the shelter too. So that’s what I’ve been doing…. for about 3 weeks now!

Why just now post him? Well, 1. he had pneumonia when he came to me, so we had to clear that up. 2. He was a bit timid, so I really wanted to get to know him and discover his true personality, so I could share it all with you, and 3. He’s the sweetest, gosh darn boy that I just wasn’t that eager to see him leave!

What I now know about him is that he LOVES every single dog that he meets!! He would he a great dog park/doggie daycare pup, because he is obsessed with making friends with other dogs! In fact, I feel he must have another PLAYFUL doggie in his forever home. They can wear each other out playing all day! He’s potty trained when taken out regularly. He’s also crate trained, and sleeps in it wonderfully overnight. He’s still a bit timid around new people, but WOW, when he feels safe and comfortable with you, he loves to get snuggles, praise, and kisses! He’s a “not an aggressive bone in his body” kind of dog and would be great with kids that are patient with him!

Romeo is just a beautiful ray of sunshine with a tiny, roti tail and a corgi butt wiggle when he’s happy, which is most of the time!! He’s neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and healthy as can be now. Does he sound perfect for your home?? Apply now at adoptastray.comand bring Romeo home this weekend!!

Additional adoption info

You are required to sign a legally binding contact on your new pet. As part of that contract, should you no longer be able to keep the animal for any reason, the animal MUST be surrendered back to SAAP. This is to ensure the animal is placed back in foster care while we secure a new approved home for the animal. However, we always try to ensure that the initial placement is best for the pet and your family. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption.

More about this rescue

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non profit organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of animals that are in need of a forever home. Our animals are fostered in homes where we provide love, food, medical care and socialization until adoption into a new loving home. We educate on the importance of spaying and neutering of all pets.

We ensure all animals have been spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They are micro-chipped, up to date on shots and on heartworm and anti-flea medications (as age appropriate). They are ready and waiting to start their new life with their fur-ever family. Could that be you?

We need your help to continue our mission. We rely solely on donations and fundraisers. All donations are tax-deductible and 100% of your donation will go towards the rescue, care, and medical needs of the animals.

If you need info on a cat or kitten please contact 859-391-2944
