My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maxine Mayfield is a sweet, affectionate girl around 1 year old who is still getting her bearings in new environments. While she can be a bit shy at first, her version of “shy” looks like leaning in for cuddles rather than pulling away.

She seeks comfort through closeness and enjoys being near her people, making her a wonderful companion for someone who loves a dog that bonds deeply. As she settles in, her personality continues to blossom, and we fully expect her confidence to grow with routine, patience, and love.

Maxine would thrive in a home that understands that adjustment takes time and is happy to offer reassurance, affection, and consistency. She is incredibly sweet, eager to connect, and already very loved by our team!

If you’re looking for a gentle, cuddly dog who just wants to be close while she finds her footing, Maxine Mayfield may be the perfect addition to your home.

More about this shelter

CCRF was founded in 2001 to help find permanent, loving homes for homeless dogs in our city. In just over seven years, CCRF has saved the lives of over 2,000 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies.

CCRF now assists the animals that are the MOST vulnerable in Midwest - the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia because they are too old, too young, injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters.
