A volunteer writes:A Good Samaritan found little Nolani roaming his apartment building. She was a very friendly young gal but nobody claimed her...Well behaved as she arrived at the care center, Nolani became quite fearful once in a kennel and handled by the veterinary team. I met Nolani a few days after her arrival at the shelter. She was in hiding but young and curious, she popped a head out of her box and came out to check me out...She did not allow contact but listened to my soft words and blinked in return. When I came back for her, Nolani was laying in her litter box(something very usual to do for cats in shelter) but got very excited as I presented her with a toy:a feather wand. She played and played, allowed me to briefly touch her nose(see her video) but clearly was stressed by too much closeness. She is soo adorable, wears a perfect ebony shiny coat and has the face of a kitten. I know Nolani is a good girl. Life has played a bad trick on her and it takes time to fall back on one's feet when that happens. Nolani needs for now a quiet adult only home, a patient and experienced adopter that will give her a safe haven, love and help her regain her trust in people. Pretty Nolani is waiting for you at the Manhattan Care Shelter.
