My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat through our Owner Placement Program. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this.

Cocoa is NOT in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home, but residing with my current owner in Santa Cruz. Adoption fee applies.

Meet Sweet Cocoa, a truly affectionate long-haired beauty who's searching for her forever home filled with love, cuddles, and constant companionship!

This gentle girl thrives in a home where her humans are around most of the time to shower her with the attention she craves. Cocoa is strictly indoor-only and has zero interest in darting outside—she's perfectly content gazing out sunny windows, basking in warm rays while watching the world go by.

Petting is Cocoa's absolute favorite thing in the world—she melts into endless sessions of gentle strokes and scratches, and she adores sleeping right on the bed with her people. If she's shut out of the bedroom at night, she lets you know she's not pleased! She simply wants to be close, always.
Cocoa has been feeling a bit distressed lately as her family's kids have grown busier and spend less time at home. She misses the constant company and would bloom in a household ready to give her that daily dose of love and interaction she needs.

As a long-haired beauty, regular grooming is key—she enjoys brushing sessions (with short 15-20 minute breaks when needed) and handles nail trims like a champ. Experience with longhairs would be a big bonus to keep her luxurious coat mat-free, especially during shedding season in late spring/early summer.
She's on a vet-prescribed Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Adult Urinary SO to keep her healthy after a past bladder crystal episode at one year old (no issues since!), and she's up to date on vaccines. Her current owner uses a Litter-Robot (which she's totally comfortable with), and they're open to including it with her adoption—something to discuss during interviews.

Cocoa is wonderfully social: she gets along great with other cats and lives peacefully with two medium-sized dogs. And oh, is she playful! She loves chasing small catnip mice and shiny pom-pom foil balls, batting them around with glee, and lounging high up on her cat tree for cozy naps (she's not much of a scratcher, but she appreciates the height and soft platforms).

If your heart melts for sweet, loving cats who return every ounce of affection tenfold, Cocoa could be the purring dream companion you've been waiting for. She's ready to fill your home (and your bed!) with warmth, playfulness, and endless cuddles. Could she be your forever kitty? 💕she's hoping for a family that will cherish her as much as she will them!

Cocoa is: Neutered/Spayed, Vaccinated, Microchipped, Dry Food

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats (like me) with qualified adopters who will cherish me and create an ideal forever home.

If you believe you're my perfect adopter please explain why in the comments section of my Adoption Application, and contact Pamela at cheemers@gmail.com or (707) 498-6578. If you are unable to reach Pamela please email info@purebredsplus.org.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone's best interests!

Additional adoption info

READY TO ADOPT?
The first step in the adoption process for your new kitty is to submit an adoption application. The second step is to contact the foster home listed on the specific cat(s) or kittens you are interested in to find out more. Are you adopting a kitten? Kittens do best when they have a friend or two to grow up with! Kittens who grow up with another feline friend tend to be well-behaved, well-adjusted, and overall happier. Purebred Plus Cat Rescue kittens are typically adopted as pairs or as a single kitten to homes with an appropriate feline playmate. If you prefer only one kitten, we strongly encourage you to consider one of our wonderful older kittens or young adult cats that are available!

Go meet their pets

Our cats are neutered or spayed, vaccinated and FELV/FIV tested. We are not a shelter. All of our cats are fostered in private homes. The whole goal of the adoption process is to ensure the cat or kitten is a good fit for you, the adopter, and your environment. We are looking for the best fit NOT first come first serve. We always focus on what is the best for the cat or kitten.

When you adopt from Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue, you are saving TWO lives - the cat you adopt and the cat who gets to take its place in rescue!

More about this rescue

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, socialization, and rehoming of purebred and other exceptional cats and kittens into permanent homes. We are further dedicated to educating the public on the proper care of specific purebred breeds and the importance of spaying and neutering pets to control the animal population. We carefully match cats with their forever families by evaluating each cat's personality, temperament, and special needs.
