My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application.

Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website.

We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run.

We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have.

Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.

General Notes | Bo is a lovable, fun-sized black Lab with a heart of gold. He’s a gentle, goofy guy ready to bring big love and tail wags to his forever home. Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.

Personality | Bo is a sweet, snuggly lovebug who adores everyone—especially the girls in the house (he's quite the ladies’ man)! He’s great with little kiddos, lives for cuddle time, and is happiest when his people are nearby. His foster family especially loves his charming duck-footed stance—it just adds to his goofy, lovable vibe. Bo would be the perfect buddy for a family that’s home a lot and ready for nonstop companionship.

Story | Bo was surrendered to the shelter with his brother in Texas! His previous owner was tragically diagnosed with cancer and forced to surrender his sweet boys. Bo has done well in adapting and settling into his foster home.

Other Dogs | Bo is dog friendly. He loves to play! He's content being near his brother, but is also perfectly happy spending time apart. Bo and Buster can be adopted separately, but would prefer to stay together.

Cats | Bo has not been cat tested. The rescue cannot speak to how he would do in a house with kitties.

Children | Bo LOVES little kiddos but is an excitable, big boy, so he might do best with kids over 7.

Training | Bo is house trained and knows "no" and "sit." He sleeps through the night near his foster parents room and doesn't expect his foster to parents to wake up early. He doesn't jump on people, even though he definitely has the muscles for it! Bo will wait patiently to eat (unlike many labs, he doesn't appear to be highly motivated by food). He does have some separation anxiety and prefers his humans be close by. He doesn't like when doors are closed to separate him from his humans and will bark when left behind. He only barks when he's scared of being abandoned again and doesn't bark at other dogs or neighbors. He also has not been destructive at all! Bo does OK in the car as long as he gets to ride "shotgun." If the front seat is not available, he will eventually settle into the back.

Leash | Your basic lab on a leash - lots of wiggles, lots of excitement! He does like to pull, but hasn't show any reactivity to other dogs or people on the leash. He is very gentle letting you put his harness on to go on walks!

Activity Level | Low-moderate. He is flexible with how much exercise he gets - happy to lay on the couch with you or go on a walk. He also enjoys a game of fetch and going for a swim. Despite his age, he is strong enough to jump over couches and gallop after tennis balls! He's still very gentle though and has been a wonderful family dog with his foster's small children.

Health | Bo had a tumor on his toe that was recently surgically removed. He was wonderful letting his foster parents clean his toe, and the vets say he's clear for adoption! :)

Thank you!

Adoption Donations |  Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).

Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process.

Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.

We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!

We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from the time of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
