My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dakota! 🔥🐾

Dakota is a female hound/terrier mix with a big personality packed into a little puppy body. She is a total spitfire who lives to play, run, and zoom around with her siblings. This girl brings the energy and keeps everyone on their toes!

Despite her playful, rough-and-tumble style, Dakota has a sweet side too. She’s also a cuddler and loves affection once she’s had her fun. She’s especially impressive for her age—Dakota is really good about coming when she hears her name, already showing how smart and people-focused she is.

One of Dakota’s cutest traits is her loyalty. If the big dogs start barking, she’s the first to rush back to your side for cover, reminding you that even brave spitfires need their humans. She can play a little rough with her siblings, but they hold their own and keep her in check.

Dakota would thrive in a home ready for an active, playful puppy who also enjoys cuddle time and being close to her people. With her spark, smarts, and loving heart, Dakota is sure to be an unforgettable companion.

Could Dakota be the perfect mix of fun and snuggles for you? 💕🐶

Raising a puppy is a big adventure (and yes, sometimes a little messy!). This puppy will need a patient family ready to guide them with training, socialization, and plenty of positive reinforcement to grow into a well-mannered adult dog. Puppies at this age are learning fast — they chew, they play, and they love with their whole hearts.

If you’re ready to invest the time and energy it takes to raise a happy, confident companion, this cutie might just be your perfect match. The reward? A loyal best friend who will bring joy to your life for years to come.

Dakota will be making her debut this Saturday January 24th for a puppy adoption event here at the Newberg Animal Shelter. Between 11am and 3pm come meet all of our adoptable puppies including five fifteen-week-old female hound/terrier mixes from the same litter!Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. Please follow the instructions on each pet profile.

Rather than doing first-come-first-serve adoptions, Newberg Animal Shelter considers all applications and chooses the home that is the best fit for that particular pet. We want the adoptions to be happy and successful for the family and the pets.
Our adoption fees include spay/neuter, and at least their first set of vaccines, and microchip.
