My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Albie

Albie is the kind of dog who looks like he could guard a medieval castle but emotionally operates at the level of a very affectionate marshmallow. He’s a big lover with a gentle soul, which means he will happily lean his entire body weight into you like he’s trying to merge souls… and then immediately act surprised when gravity exists. He’s soft. He’s sweet. He’s convinced that personal space is a shared concept. Think “oversized teddy bear who missed the memo about his own size,” paired with the quiet sincerity of a dog who just wants everyone to be okay and maybe receive a forehead kiss or twelve.

Meet Albie — a 5-month-old, 64-pound male Great Pyrenees who arrived in rescue with his sister after being abandoned… and honestly, whoever let that happen really fumbled the bag. Because as far as puppies go? This one is dangerously close to perfect. Albie is going to grow into a full-scale, sasquatch-adjacent dog. The kind of dog that strangers will stop and stare at. Let’s be very clear here: Albie is not for someone who thinks “big dog” means “like… a chunky Lab.” No. This is a dog who will eventually take up an entire couch and still believe there’s room for you. This is not a dog for someone who believes personal space is sacred, lap dogs should be under 20 pounds, or that “I’ll just scoot him over” is a realistic plan. Albie will never, ever understand why he cannot gently place his entire body directly on top of yours. He will try anyway. Politely. Lovingly. With full confidence.

Let’s talk about Albie’s social life, because this kid is basically running a very wholesome fan club. With other dogs, Albie starts out in what we like to call polite introvert mode. He’ll hang back, observe, pretend he’s very calm and composed… and then about five minutes later it’s like someone flipped a switch and he’s suddenly all in. Once he decides a dog is a friend, it is game on. Playtime. Wrestling. Happy bouncing. Big goofy puppy joy. He loves other dogs deeply and enthusiastically. Cats? Jury’s out. Unknown. A mystery. Schrödinger’s cat situation. He hasn’t written his thesis on felines yet, so we’re not making promises or accusations at this time. Kids, though? Oh, he adores them. Older kids are his jam. He loves the attention, the affection, the constant petting — truly living his best life. That said, Albie is a 64-pound baby moose who has absolutely no concept of how large he is. He would never hurt a fly on purpose, but he might accidentally knock over a smaller child simply by loving them too hard. There is zero malice here — just enthusiasm, momentum, and a very sincere belief that everyone should be lopve Albie style. Meeting new people is Albie’s favorite sport. Strangers? Friends he hasn’t met yet. He approaches every new human with the confidence of someone who assumes they exist solely to pet him. He wants all the love, all the attention, all the hands on his body at once if possible. If you stop petting him, he will politely wonder what went wrong and whether you need emotional support.

Let’s break down Albie in motion, because this boy is a delightful mix of “gentle giant” and “still figuring out how legs work.” Energy-wise, he clocks in at about a 6 out of 10, which translates to: he enjoys bursts of activity, playtime, and zooming around with his dog friends… but he is absolutely not trying to run a marathon or join CrossFit. He’s got energy to burn, sure, but he’s also deeply committed to naps, lounging, and flopping dramatically onto the nearest surface once his social battery hits low. Balance. Wellness. Self-care. Adventure dog or homebody? Albie would be perfectly happy going out, exploring, meeting people, splashing in water, and seeing the world. He would also be perfectly happy staying home, lounging in the yard, supervising squirrels, and being emotionally attached to the couch. He’s adaptable like that — just don’t expect him to turn down either option. Temperament-wise, Albie is a massive lap dog trapped in a rapidly growing body. He wants face kisses, belly rubs, treats, playtime with other dogs, and opportunities to get his energy out — preferably followed by collapsing directly onto you like he’s forgotten how gravity works. He is affectionate, sweet, and deeply convinced that his place in life is as close to you as physically possible. Water? Yes. Toys? Yes. If it involves fun, stimulation, or joy, Albie would like to participate. Enthusiastically. Possibly with his whole body. Housing-wise, let’s be realistic: this is a big boy who is going to be a very big boy. He will need a securely fenced yard. Apartment life is not the vibe. A fence gives him space to move, explore, and grow into the sasquatch he is clearly destined to become.

Let’s cover Albie’s home résumé, because this boy is out here trying to convince everyone he’s very responsible. First up: potty training. Yes. Miraculously, yes. For a five-month-old, 64-pound Great Pyrenees who is still actively growing into a small bear, he has somehow grasped the concept that bathrooms are an outdoor-only experience. Gold star. Standing ovation. We’re all very proud. Kennel life? Totally fine — as long as he has something appropriate to chew on. Albie uses an XXXL kennel, which feels important to mention because this is not a “cute medium crate tucked in a corner” situation. Barking? Oh. Yes. This is a Great Pyrenees, not a mute button. Once the sun goes down, Albie’s internal Pyr software boots up. Outside, Albie believes it is his personal responsibility to notify you that the world is still happening. This is a sacred ancestral duty passed down through generations of cloud dogs who were bred to yell at danger, perceived danger, potential danger, and vibes that feel a little off. Inside the house, he’s much more relaxed. If you’re looking for a dog who never barks, this is not that dog. If you want a fluffy, overgrown security system who takes his job so seriously it borders on comedic, will protect your home from intruders, wildlife, imaginary threats, and bad energy — Albie is already on duty.

So here’s the deal — Albie is the whole package. Big-hearted, gentle, goofy, loyal, affectionate, and already showing signs of becoming that once-in-a-lifetime soul dog people talk about forever. Now for the business portion of this love story. If you’re interested in adopting Albie, you’ll need to fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it over to his foster family and make sure everyone is on the same page. No, you cannot just “call dibs” in the comments. Yes, paperwork is involved. We promise it’s worth it. And because logistics matter: Albie’s pickup will be in Claremore, Oklahoma. This is not optional. He will not teleport. He will not Uber. He will not be delivered by angels riding unicorns. Claremore. Oklahoma.
