My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read before considering adoption: Chai is a unique kitten who has had a rough start to life. She was found by a good Samaritan outside in the cold. We know that Chai experieced a difficult time because she developed a stress coat, giving her a frosted apperance. She may loose this as she gets older, revealing her true coloring. She is beautiful but do not assume she is a typical kitten who looks cute and is snuggly. Chai has very clear boundaries and she will let you know if you do not respect them. She will growl and swat when she is not happy, and hisses around unfamiliar people. Chai has been in a foster home since the day she arrived and her foster family has worked really hard to help her learn to trust. She will require an exceptional amount of patience and understanding for her to have a successful transition into a new home. She will need a family that has experience with cats and is not a first time cat owner. She should have a calm environment and one that allows her to have her own space when she wants. She has done very well with her foster siblings but all of them know she is queen bee. Chai would benefit having a playmate as she really enjoys playing with her current siblings. She is small (and amazing) but packs a very big personality! She enjoys her morning wet food and getting treats. Her favorite toys are her track tower and tunnel. She also will need a good scratching post/tower as she enjoys climbing. Applications for Chai will be very selective to ensure she gets the right home. Applicants for consideration will require a meet and greet prior to adoption approval. Chai deserves the best forever home and we are committed to helping her live her best life.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Oldham County is the areas first no kill animal rescue. We run a top notch spay\neuter clinic, rescue and find loving homes for homeless or abused animals in our area, monitor and care for feral cat colonies including TNR. We also help the community through our many programs including Kentucky State Reformatory(KSR) Camp K9 where dogs are housed with professionally trained, monitored, nonviolent inmates to socialize and train our adoptable dogs to be highly adoptable and have good basic skills. A wonderful program for the inmates and our dogs.
