My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pickles
Did you know that there are sweet pickles and sour pickles? I am totally a sweet pickle! My owner surrendered me to the HSHC on January 14 because he lost his home. I am 2.5-years-old and lived with him for two years. I am a grey-and-white DSH Tabby boy. My owner had good things to say about me. Such as, I am curious about the outdoors, but I don’t try to escape. You can hold me in any position. I am super snuggly, and I like to cuddle with my owner all night. While it may take me some time to warm up to new people, if you’re patient, I’ll soon show you my terrific personality. I have gotten along well with the dogs I’ve lived with, both small and large breeds. I am a big fan of ham. He said I was a great cat! During my examination, the medical staff said I was scared but sweet-natured. The staff was worried that I may have ingested something that was causing me to vomit. I had a complete surgical inspection with an incision from my stomach to my colon. Everything turned out to be okay, giving me a long scar but peace of mind. I moved to a foster home (FH) on February 13 to recover and get some consistent TLC. My foster mom (FM) is a college student and so busy, but she is taking very good care of me. She reports that I am using my litterbox without fail. I’m shy at first, but once I am comfortable and confident, I’ll reveal my outgoing, lovely personality. FM has kept me separate from her young puppy. But just lately, I’ve spent some time near the puppy in his crate, and I am very curious about him. I love hanging out upstairs, chilling on the stairs, and looking out the windows. FM thinks I am a combination of a friendly lap cat and a fearful worrywart. I like sleeping and cuddling with her, but if I don’t like something (like having my tummy rubbed), I may swat to let you know. This baby boy loves to eat! The second FM wakes up, I am holding up my food bowl. I am nuts about climbing a cat tree, the higher the better. My FM likes to keep my time outside of the foster room structured to alleviate my stress. If you can give me the same kind of TLC my FM has, I think we’ll make a great match. 2-23-26

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
