My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile:

Lucy is a beautiful bully mix with a big heart and an athletic spirit, looking for her perfect forever home. Born on 10/19/24, Lucy was originally adopted as a puppy, but due to a divorce and significant changes in her home environment and schedule, she now needs new placement through no fault of her own.

Foster Update:

Lucy has completed a board-and-train program with Mayhem Dog Training and comes with training support for life. She is house trained, crate trained, e-collar trained, and treadmill trained; a smart girl who loves structure and engagement.

She currently lives with a mellow senior dog and two cats. While Lucy has never harmed the cats, recent schedule changes have led to increased chasing, and she can be a bit extra in her attempts at play. A home without cats or with experienced management would be ideal.

On leash, Lucy can be reactive toward other dogs, but she is easy to redirect and responds well to corrections. She plays hard and enthusiastically, so she would do best as an only dog or with an older, calm dog who isn’t interested in wrestling. Fetch is her absolute favorite game (she’ll play until she drops!), and she recently discovered her love for the flirt pole.

Lucy is an athletic cuddle bug who would thrive in an active home that enjoys adventures and structured exercise, but she does not require constant activity. She has a great off switch and is perfectly content to relax and lounge on days when outings are limited.

She would do best in a home without young children because she doesn’t fully realize her size and strength and could accidentally knock them over. Lucy know's all of her basic commands: sit, down, come, place, and heel.

After a day of activity or a quiet day at home, Lucy is more than happy to curl up on the couch and soak up all the love. She’s ready to be someone’s adventure partner and loyal snuggle companion.

Adoption Info: Lucy's adoption fee is $575 which includes her spay, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV, microchip, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization.
