Meet Axel who is being fostered in the Ottawa area.
Axel is a 2.5-year-old, 35–40 lb sweetheart with a gentle soul and an affectionate, endearing personality. He’s the kind of dog who truly thrives on connection — Axel loves being close to his person and is happiest when he’s getting hugs and sharing quiet moments together.
Playful and social, Axel enjoys playing both on his own and with other dogs or people. He’s friendly, well-adjusted, and responds nicely to commands, showing that he adapts well to new situations and learning opportunities. Axel walks well on leash and would love an active family who enjoys including their dog in daily life.
Axel does have some prey drive, but with continued training this can be managed and improved. He’s good with dogs and dog-savvy cats, making him a great fit for many multi-pet homes. While he isn’t fond of the crate just yet, with patience and positive reinforcement he can continue to make progress if crate time is needed.
Axel would do best in a home with children 8+, as he hasn’t been tested with younger kids. A securely fenced yard is required so he can safely play and explore. He can thrive with or without another dog, and would be happiest with someone who doesn’t work outside the home full-time, as he truly loves being with his people.
If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Axel may be your perfect match
