Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Scout is a striking 6yo tuxedo cat who is a true companion at heart. She is a social girl who loves nothing more than being around her people and will often be found curled up right on the bed for a long nap. Scout is an expert at finding the coziest hiding spots for a deep sleep, but she also has a fun, energetic side that comes out during her nightly zoomies. She is incredibly easy to please, showing enthusiasm for every toy she finds and excitement for any treat offered to her. Scout tells us she prefers to be the only pet in the home so that she can be adored for all her unique qualities!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 kittens up to 6 months
$120 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
