My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, everyone - meet Milton! This guy joined our merry foster crew here at Hero Dog Rescue about 3 days ago and with just hours to spare, as room was going to have to be made at the overcrowded shelter where he was.😢 Oh my gosh, what a lucky find we had in seeing him in time, as this guy is a gem!!! Some lucky family will reap the benefits when they meet him and decide to take him home and add him to their family. Will that lucky family be yours?!?

Milt is a sweet, gentle soul who loves love and shows affection with every breath he takes. He is about 2 years old, and an incredibly handsome lab/shepherd mix. He's got medium energy, and honestly strikes the perfect blend of knowing when to dial up the energy and play, or dial it back and just chill.

He's a super smart pup and wants to please. He couldn't walk on a leash without nearly tripping his person or pulling, and now just a couple of days later is walking like a champ right at your side. He's still learning to be comfortable in a crate (we think maybe he had bad experiences with crates in the past), and is literally getting better by the day. And about that affection...he wants it and he gives it back continuously. He'll find you to get some pets, ear scratches, or to roll over so you can rub his belly. Then he will be perfectly content to settle down right by your feet and just snuggle. He is a funny, happy boy, and loves everyone.

He's a decent sized fellow (about 65 pounds), and will do best with a yard where he can run around and get some exercise. He looks like a thoroughbred horse with the prettiest running gate, and is good already with basic commands like "come here" and "no". He is a joy who will put a smile on your face and be an amazing addition to the right family looking to adopt the best dog ever.

If you'd like to meet Milt and learn more, then he for sure would like to meet you. Please apply at herorescue.org and check out this amazing catch of a dog!!!

Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies.

Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered.

You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.
