My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I can be skittish at first, but with time I get used to visitors and welcome the company. I am the proud mamma of 3 kittens: Biscotti, Pie, and Scotcheroo who have all been adopted, now its just me and I can't wait to find my furever person. I am very happy to entertain my visitors. I really like to play with the teaser toy, get brushed or just settle down for some cuddles. Since I am on the shy side I will need time to adjust to a new home, If you have time and understanding for a gal like me and my special needs please apply for me today.

Muffin is FIV positive. She will need to be the only cat in the home or live with other FIV positive cats.

This purrfect felines adoption donation is $75 which includes spay, microchip, rabies vaccine, FVRCP vaccine, flea/tick preventative, and dewormer. Once an application is approved, we ask potential adopters to come to the shelter to visit the pet or pets they are interested in. If it seems like a great fit, then we would have you fill out the Adoption Contract and provide you with the pet's medical chart, some of the food it is currently eating, and offer any advice we can on that individual cat or dog.

Our shelter is located at 1471, US Highway 20 West, Elizabeth, IL, 61028. Our hours are: Monday - Saturday, 10am to 3pm. We can provide by-appointment-only visits from 3pm to 5:30pm. We are closed on Sundays.

Safe Haven is a small non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, located in Jo Daviess County and supported entirely by community donations & memberships. Our Board of Directors, Shelter Staff, and Dedicated Volunteers believe that together we can make a difference in the lives of cats, dogs, and the people who care about them.

Our mission at Safe Haven is to provide a haven and treatment for adoptable cats & dogs, place them in suitable homes, increase awareness of the humane treatment of animals and promote spay & neuter programs to reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Jo Daviess County.
