On Dancer, on Prancer, on Dixon, on Dasher, on Danny! Our reclusive boy is part deer, leaps and bounds of excitment about the world he has known so little of during his 3 years of life. After a frolic together, or running through Danny's tricks, you will find he warms up quickly to people who engage with his passions. Danny is our token wallflower, looking for his extroverted half, being too shy to leap into the adventure, but by gosh golly, he wants to leap.

Kids: Due to Danny's reserved nature, we recommend kids 12+ that have interacted with dogs before.

Dogs: We are unsure how Danny is with other canines, while he has shown interest in his fellow four legged guest, we advise patience and caution during any introductions.

Cats: Danny has never met any cats before. Due to his high prey drive we recommend he live in a home without cats.

Danny is Neutered, Microchipped, and fully up to date on vaccines and preventions! To schedule a Meet-n-Greet, please complete an application and WCHS will reach out as soon as possible!

Additional adoption info

Our adoptions are processed same day! All we ask is for an adoption questionnaire and survey to be completed as well as a copy of the adopter's state ID in order to assure they are at least 18 years old.

Each animal has a fee which must be paid at the time of adoption and there is a small amount of paper to be completed as well.

We ask that adopted animals safely leave the shelter either in a carrier or in a leash and collar.

All adoptable animals have been spayed/neutered, received, age appropriate vaccinations, and a microchip! Cats have been tested for FIV and FeLV. Dogs have been tested for heartworm as well as kept current on flea and heartworm prevention.

Business Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 7pm and Thursday through Sunday from noon to 5pm.
Adoptions end a half hour before closing.

More about this shelter

The Wood County Humane Society was originally founded in 1904, and has been committed to the well-being of many different species of domesticated animals that require our help. In 1988, the Minniebelle Conley Shelter was established through the generous legacy of the Minniebelle Conley Trust, and our current location was built to provide these services, and has continually been doing so since. We are a private, non-profit, limited admission, 501(c) (3) organization and rely on the generous contributions and donations of our members and residents of Wood County. We do not receive any funding from the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States for our daily operations.
