My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I’m Francis. My friends call me Frankie, and I hope you’ll be one of them soon! I’m a Border Collie mix, almost 1 year old and 40#. I'm a joyful, happy guy and love making my people smile and laugh every day. I’m ready to take on the world with my future family.

My foster mom says I’m responsive, alert, and active. I’m happiest when I have something to do, especially if it involves a good chase or game of tug! I love using my brain and my body. I’d thrive in a home that is active and adventurous, where I can join in on hikes, games, and daily fun. I can’t wait to take my family to obedience classes!

I am the life of the party wherever I go. People always stop to to ask about my huge ears (you sure can't miss 'em!), which doesn't bother me a bit. I’m confident and friendly in new situations, and love being part of the action. As you can see by my video montage, I'm a master at creating my own fun! (https://youtu.be/EHd4kHcuFq8)

I’m housebroken and a total angel in my crate. I’m still learning about leash walking, but being outside exploring is one of my favorite pastimes. Make sure to keep me on lead or behind a secure fence; I can’t resist chasing critters. Because of that, cats are a no-go for me. Another dog in my forever home would be amazing, especially one who’s confident and can show me the ropes. I love my foster siblings (especially Margo because she plays bitey face with me!).

A family that understands herding or very bright dogs is ideal for me - they will appreciate my smarts, energy, and independence, and know how to give me a job to do. Whether it’s running with mom, training with dad or something like agility or farm chores, I’ll give it my all.

If you’re looking for a sharp, cheerful, hard-working partner to share your adventures, I’m your guy!

Frankie is being fostered in Mound, MN. APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt

As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Francis' adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. All of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

More about this rescue

Heart of a Border Collie Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with foster homes in the Twin Cities, Duluth and other locations in the Midwest. We are dedicated to the rehoming of Border Collies, Border Collie mixes and other herding breeds in need of help in Minnesota, the Dakotas and neighboring states. We provide temporary housing in approved foster homes, proper medical care, training, rehabilitation and education of prospective homes.

There are no paid positions in our rescue: we are all volunteers who support the HOABCR mission because we love the breed and want to help dogs in need. We are always looking to welcome like-minded fosters and other volunteers to partner with us in helping dogs!
