My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I’m Aggie! I’m in search of my forever home. I like to bark when I see dogs but when properly introduced, I get along with dogs, even the ankle biters.

I’m incredibly sweet and affectionate. While I may not fully grasp my size, I know how to show you love with plenty of kisses, drool, and face licks!

When I greet people, I tend to jump up to get a better look at them. I’m working on it, but sometimes I forget.

I take treats very gently.

Car rides are my favorite—I’ll even buckle up!

I might pull a bit on the leash when we first head out, but I improve as we continue our walk.

I’m not sure about cats at this time, and I prefer a home with kids aged 12 and older.

Previous experience with Cane Corsos or guardian breeds is required. Only homeowners with fenced yards will be considered.

To apply, visit http://www.almosthomeri.org.

It is important to know that Aggie and her sister, Emma, were confiscated from a Providence auto repair shop. They were purchased as puppies and lived in junk cars on the property until Providence Animal Control liberated them.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Where do your dogs come from?
Our dogs come from local shelters, or they are surrendered to us by their owners.

What are your adoption fees, and what do they include?

Our adoption donation fee is $550.00

All dogs are spayed/neutered accordingly, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, dewormed, given flea preventative and microchipped.

Puppies have age appropriate vaccines and will be adopted on a spay/neuter agreement.

Can I see come down to see a dog that I like?

Our rescue does not have a “facility” where the dogs can be seen. We rely on our volunteer foster homes to care for our dogs. Once your application has been approved and processed, you will be contacted by a volunteer to set up a home visit. All family members who reside in the home must be present for the home visit.

More about this rescue

Almost Home Rescue (AHR) is a non profit dog rescue serving Rhode Island dogs in need. All donations are tax deductible. AHR is comprised of a small, yet dedicated group of volunteers who devote their free time to rescuing, rehabilitating-if necessary- and rehoming dogs in Rhode Island

We do not maintain a shelter so all of our dogs live in foster care until they can be placed in the right home. We can only take in as many dogs as we have an open home for, and therefore we welcome new foster applicants so we can help place more dogs who are in jeopardy of losing their lives.

We do not discriminate against dogs because of age or breed. When deciding what dogs we will accept into our program, we judge by dogs' temperaments, not by how they look.

Some of our favorite breeds* to work with include:

Rottweiler, Cane Corso, Dogue de Bordeaux and all the Bully breeds

*We will accept small breed dogs at times, but a large breed dog will always take preference when we have an opening at a foster home.

In addition to finding forever families for our rescues, and providing safe foster homes for all dogs currently in our care, we are committed to educating the public by providing accurate information about the above mentioned breeds that are so undeservingly misrepresented.
