Are you ready to add a touch of elegance and a dash of sass to your home? Meet Bea, our stunning house panther who’s equal parts sweet and spicy!
Bea’s journey has been quite the adventure. She came to us just before Christmas from a dog shelter, of all places! They wanted to make sure this feline queen had a safe space to land while waiting for her forever home. Since then, she’s been treated for some pesky worms and fleas. But don’t worry because they’re history now!
We do not know how she ended up at a shelter in the first place. But before coming to us, she spent time in a foster home. Her foster mom describes Bea as a cat who truly knows her mind. Once she feels comfortable, she’s affectionate and loves being petted (especially on the top of her head) and will even curl up on your lap when she decides it’s time. Picked up? Not her favorite. But respect her boundaries and you’ll find a loyal companion who gives affection on her own terms.
Bea gets along with other cats, but won’t hesitate to remind them when she needs her space. She's a true queen of balance between independence and connection. She’s come such a long way from her uncertain start and now she’s ready to find a home that will appreciate her confidence, her beauty and her personality.

The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. We strive for the best possible match between you and your new pet. If you do not find the right animal on your first visit to our shelter, please return another day when new animals will be available for adoption. We include as much information as we know about an animal on their information card. We are here to help make a wonderful new addition to your family.
Adoption Requirements:
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have valid ID with current address
• Must provide landlord’s name and phone number (or copy of current lease)
• All members of the household should be present
• You must understand that Berea Animal Rescue must approve your adoption application

The shelter accepts cash or Mastercard, Visa, or Discover.
*If paying in cash, please understand that volunteers are unable to make change.

• Senior cats (7 years and older): $65.00
• Cats (7 months – 6 years) – $100.00
• Kittens (less than 7 months) – $125.00
• Cardboard carriers available – $5.00

Berea ARF operates a “no time limit” shelter where animals are cared for until permanent homes can be found. The shelter is supported by a small dedicated staff and several hundred devoted volunteers. ARF receives no regular government funding and relies solely on donations by its generous supporters.

Berea Animal Rescue Fund “ARF” began in 1987 as a small group of animal lovers started a ‘grassroots’ movement, recognizing the desperate housing and healthcare needs of homeless animals. Their efforts began in the southwest suburban Cleveland area, transforming a family’s garage into an animal "shelter."
The ARF movement grew when the city of Berea provided us a small building, utility costs included. In return, ARF would always have a cage open for the city’s stray animals. Now, after 20 years of service and thousands of success stories later ARF continues to save lives and make friends. ARF is operated in large part by a group of very dedicated volunteers who give their time and endless love to the shelter's furry residents.
Our next big goal is to position ourselves into a roomier facility…a more spacious home to the area's unwanted and abandoned animals. We believe no pet should be euthanized or left behind because lack of such a place. Our facility is overcrowded and outdated by today’s animal welfare standards. ONLY, through the generous support of the community and the dedication of our volunteers, can we make this dream a reality.

Seek quality homes through adoption programs;
Create public interest and awareness of animal rights and issues; and
Promote action and advocacy for all of the above.
