Meet Sampson, a 7-year-old chow/border collie mix who's part clown, part best friend, and all heart. This boy is loaded with personality and will keep you smiling every single day.
Here's what makes Sampson one of a kind:
- Spins in hilarious tail-chasing circles (with growls!)
- Brings you toys and bones when it's time to play
- Total water dog — puddles, hose spray, or kiddie pool
- Professional cardboard shredder (he takes his "job" seriously)
- Zoomies + squirrel patrol = daily entertainment
- High energy but also entertains himself like a champ
Sampson is crate trained, leash trained, and housebroken. When he bonds, he bonds big — this silly boy will be your ride-or-die once you're his person.
Sampson's Dream Home:
- Fenced yard
- Dog-savvy human (chow experience preferred)
- No other pets
- No kids
- No apartments (he likes to chat!)
- Fully vetted with a manageable skin allergy
- Comes with his very own custom portrait by Painting with a Purpose
If you're looking for a one-and-only sidekick with a goofy streak, Sampson's your guy.
**Sampson is located in Spring, TX. Paid transport can be arranged. Transport costs range from $200-400.**

Houston Chow Chow Connection is a collaborative of dog lovers and rescuers that dedicate their time, efforts and talents toward helping rescue Chow Chows in need. We are an entirely volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) organization with no administrative costs.
Our rescue traces its origin back several years to the work of Dianne Watson. Dianne dedicated much of her young life to saving homeless Chows in North and West Texas. In her memory, Houston Chow Chow Connection continues her passion of uniting Chow Chows with perfect forever families.
HCCC began rescuing in 2013 and re-homed over 400 dogs since inception, including over 125 in 2017! Our dogs found homes on the East and West coasts of the U.S. and have traveled north and south! As we continue to rescue and re-home more and more Chows, our costs grow. As you may know, rescuing animals takes money. Not only is there the typical care and upkeep (including food and general veterinary care), some of our rescues need specialized treatments.
At HCCC we don’t pick and choose the dogs we rescue – they pick us. While the majority of our rescues are healthy, we never turn our backs on the homeless, Chows with physical issues, or disabilities. Some of our incoming babies have suffered long-term and extensive neglect. New HCCC dogs may require spay/neuter, shaving due to extensive matting, entropion and/or hip replacement surgeries, treatment of skin problems and a variety of other issues.
