Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Estimated Birthdate: 03/15/2025
Adoption Fee: RWAR is running a $25 adoption fee special on all cats 6 months and older through midnight 01/31/2026!
Aelin is a SWEET little kitten who came from a home with far too many cats, and she’s only now discovering what it truly means to be a kitten! Every day brings new “firsts” for her — the first toys she dares to chase, the first cozy spots she decides to explore, the first moments where her curiosity peeks out from behind her shyness. She’s making steady strides and learning that the world can be safe, fun, and full of play!
Despite being one of the most unphotogenic cats you’ll ever meet — she has a permanent “resting grumpy” face in almost all photos taken lol — Aelin is literally one of the most sweetest, most loving little kitties you could imagine!
She is SO social and outgoing! She is highly affectionate and all you have to do is put your hand out, and she’ll rub herself on it… and if your hand is just out of reach, she’ll yell at you until you move it closer so she can properly pet herself on you (just like in one of the photos included in her bio lol!). She truly craves love, closeness, and gentle attention! Aelin is also cat friendly, making her a perfect fit for a home with other feline companions!
With her blossoming confidence, playful curiosity, and affectionate nature, Aelin is well on her way to becoming the loving, joyful companion she was always meant to be.
If you are interested in meeting sweet Aelin, please fill out the application below!

This cat is currently in a foster home in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. We cannot hold our cats for any reason. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within three days of applying.
Adoption Fee Includes:
Spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, FVRCP vaccines, SNAP test, dewormer, flea/tick prevention, and general wellness care.
Please note: Foster-to-adopt homes must be within 30 miles of Lemont and use one of our partnered vets. We do not adopt out of state until the cat is fully vetted.

More about this rescue
MISSION
Our mission is to be a voice and a home for dogs and cats who do not have one. To provide love, care, and shelter for those who have never had it or have lost it. We believe all animals are deserving. We will rescue, protect, vet, and provide hope as we search for loving forever homes for all animals that come into our care.
PURPOSE
Ruby Whiskers Animal Rescue, based in Lemont, IL, is dedicated to rescuing, vetting, and rehoming animals from shelters and other abandoned situations. Operated by dedicated volunteers and supported by foster families and sponsors, our goal is to provide the necessary veterinary care, grooming, and love while finding them forever homes.
GOALS
Successfully rescue and rehome dogs and cats from kill shelters and other abandoned situations.
Spay/neuter all animals that come into our care.
Grow a foster and volunteer network.
Support and educate the community of the importance of spay and neuter.
Keep pets with their families by providing assistance with pet food, training, vetting, or any other pet related issue, in order to keep them together and out of the shelter.
Educate adults and children to build awareness, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of spay and neuter for all animals.
Advocate for stronger laws regarding animal welfare, cruelty, and puppy mills/pet stores.
Help decrease the homeless/abandoned animal population to in turn reduce euthanasia rates at shelters and animal control organizations.
PHILOSOPHY
Successful RWAR adoptions depend on strong relationships with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, and trainers. Through these relationships we will be able to rescue hundreds of animals every year and provide them with loving temporary care and carefully-matched forever homes.
SUPPORT
Best Friend’s Animal Society NO-KILL 2025 Goal
Reaching no-kill by 2025 means that every shelter in our country is getting the community support it needs to save every dog and cat who can be saved. *When a shelter is saving at least 90% of dogs and cats entering that shelter, it is designated as no-kill.*
