Meet Hazel 🌼
Hazel is a friendly, affectionate girl who loves being part of the family. She’s currently thriving in a foster home with two larger dogs and enjoys playing with them, and she also lives with two cats whom she’s curious about but happily respects their boundaries...what a polite pup!
Hazel adores people and will happily try to sneak her way into your lap on the couch or cuddle up in bed for some quality snuggle time. At night, she sleeps soundly in her kennel and does great with a consistent routine. She’s still working on letting her people know when she needs to go outside during the day, so regular potty breaks (about once an hour) are helping her continue to build good habits.
She walks beautifully on leash and would make a wonderful walking, trail, or jogging partner. Best of all, Hazel has lovely manners. She’s not jumpy, nippy, or pushy, just sweet, gentle, and eager to be near her people.
Hazel is ready to find a loving home where she can keep learning, cuddling, and enjoying all the good things life has to offer. 💕🐶

The shelter is located at 589 Coolwater Drive in Bastrop Texas. Please come meet our pets Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
