My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

History: Noel has been diagnosed by ultrasound with feline triaditis. This is a multi organ disease that includes inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, and cholangiohepatits. In laymen’s terms, she has inflammation of the intestines (IBD). This is thought to be the start of the problem as a whole, inflammation of the pancreas and liver + / - the bile ducts. This can also include a bacterial component as well.

At this time, she is doing well. We are treating Noel with a hydrolyzed protein diet to try and control the likely underlying cause of IBD. We have also started her on Prednisolone to help bring down the inflammation of the intestines, pancreas, and live. Long term, we would expect to control her problems with the special diet and then prednisolone if and when she has flare-ups. The common signs one may see are vomiting and inappetence.

A note from the foster:‍ Noel was found just before Christmas, sick and in need of urgent care. Thanks to Coco’s Heart and veterinary support, she is steadily recovering and ready to find her special person/family and loving home that she deserves. She has won the hearts of everyone she meets with her friendly nature and affectionate purrs. She is a very sweet and petite kitty weighing a little over 5 lb. but working on gaining weight and strength each day.

Noel loves to be near her people and would love nothing more than to cuddle on your chest or next to you on a fuzzy, warm blanket. We have a four-year-old male cat that she has been co-existing with, and pretty much ignores. I think she would be fine in a home with another cat with the right temperament. She is revealing a playful side with interest in toys, and I am hoping this will continue with time. Mostly, she needs a quiet environment and a space to get away from hustle and bustle if needed. We have two dogs that were very interested in her at first but quickly learned to respect her space. I have noticed that she will not come around as much if they are near, such as watching a movie or relaxing. They are medium-large size and seem to intimidate her, although she has learned to stand her ground. She is a Tortie after all! A calm or smaller dog companion would be a better fit due to her size and health journey. Extra stress is not the best for this little lady.

Noel shows me how grateful she is at a second chance each day with her lovable personality. She is headed in the right direction at 12 years old and hoping for someone special to take care of her and spoil her. She does not ask for much-just love and some gentle head rubs.
