My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"You haven't lived until you've seen Bear light up when he learns something new."

Bear is smart, affectionate, and incredibly devoted to his people. He loves one on one time, thrives during training, and soaks up praise like sunshine.

What Bear Needs to Shine
• A secure, visually blocked yard
Bear gets stressed when he sees other dogs up close, so having a quiet, enclosed space helps him feel safe.

• Walks in calm areas
He's selective with other dogs, so quieter routes and continued positive muzzle training will set him up for success.

• Someone who enjoys a smart dog
Bear responds beautifully to structure, patience, and positive reinforcement. He loves working with someone calm and confident.

• Support while he learns to be alone
Bear is working on building comfort with solo time, and a flexible schedule will help him continue making progress.

Why You'll Love Him
Bear is affectionate, intelligent, eager to please, and deeply loyal. He's not just looking for any home; he's looking for his person. And for the right match, he'll be unforgettable.

More about this shelter

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
