Meet Luna! This sweet girl has a big head and a big heart that`s full of love- and she`s looking for her forever family to give all of that love to. Nicknamed `lovebug` by her previous family, Luna loves to get pets and cuddle. She makes friends with everyone she meets and has had previous experience with kids, cats, and other dogs! She loves to play fetch and chew on sticks. Luna has a lot of energy, and wants to spend that energy playing with her dog friends or her humans, ending the day in a snuggle session before bed. In her previous home, Luna was house-broken and crate-trained- her cue to go into her crate is `get in your bed.` She is smart but can be a bit stubborn, so she may need some ongoing training. She is very treat-motivated!
Luna was surrendered to the shelter with her cousin, a dog named Baby Girl. Both dogs were loved dearly by their owners, but hard financial times and housing struggles forced them into a position where they had to let go of the dogs to make sure they could be taken care of. The dogs lived together for many years and are best friends- the `dynamic duo` as their previous owners liked to say. It is not required to adopt them together, but if you are looking for two dogs, they would make the perfect pair.
If Luna sounds like the perfect bundle of joy to bring into your life, come visit her (and her cousin Baby Girl!) at SPCA Cincinnati today!

We are offering adoptions at our shelter from 12 noon - 6 p.m. daily. Our dog and cat adoption areas are open for walk-throughs every day. We are dedicated to making our shelter a pleasant environment for the animals and our guests. Adoption fees waived (FREE) for animals 6+ years old! Find your furever friend today...
If you are interested in adopting, check out the available animals on this website by using the tabs to the left or by clicking here for up-to-date information on pets currently available for adoption.
Adopters must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver's license or government-issued ID, provide payment, and be required to sign the adoption contract.
We cannot finalize adoptions over the phone or online. This is a family decision; everyone in the adopter’s household is encouraged to meet the animal at the shelter. The actual adoption visit takes place in designated areas and typically lasts 10-15 minutes. During this time, you will be able to spend some quality time getting to know the animal and deciding if they are a match for your home. At the end of the visit, if it’s a match, GREAT! In keeping with the desire to limit visits, our expectations are that you are prepared to take the animal home the same day. If you are interested in adopting a dog, and you have a dog (or dogs) at home, they must successfully meet each other before completing the adoption.

More about this shelter
The SPCA Cincinnati is your Cincinnati Hometown Humane Society and has been for 150 years. When you ask, “Who is the SPCA near me?”, you’ll find us, with solutions for everything animal-related — from pet adoptions to vaccination clinics. We provide compassionate care for any animals that come to us, from food to medical care, exercise, enrichment, and love to get them ready to go to their new homes.
We are the pet placement experts locally and across our nation, making the SPCA Cincinnati the place to go for adopting cats and dogs, as well as small animals.
We do all we can to support people so that pet surrender is a last resort, such as providing pet food donations for those under financial strain and behavioral training. We partner with human social service agencies to keep pets in their current homes and to improve their quality of life. We value innovative educational techniques to keep pets and families together, enrich shelter life, promote the humane treatment of all animals, and prevent pet overpopulation.
Our work is made possible through the compassion and generosity of donors — caring friends like you.
