My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Merv! ✨
Merv is a 2-year-old, 60-lb lovebug with the biggest heart and the sweetest soul.
He’s dog-friendly, people-friendly, and truly just happy to be included in whatever you’re doing.

This handsome guy is an absolute rockstar in the car, making him the perfect adventure buddy. Nature walks are his happy place, and if there’s a beach involved? Even better. Merv loves dipping his paws in the ocean, burying his nose in the sand, and soaking up all those salty seaside smells 🌊🐕

Merv would thrive with a little structure and consistency — he’s very food and treat motivated and eager to please, which makes him a joy to train.

He’s incredibly loving, generous with kisses, and bonds deeply with his people.
🏡 Home notes:
• Would do great with another dog or happily shine as your one and only
• Best with kids 7+ due to his size
• Active, affectionate, and ready to be someone’s best friend

If you’re looking for a loyal, outdoors-loving companion who’s equal parts adventure buddy and cuddle bug, Merv might be your guy 💛 Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) for lots more info on this great pup!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The process is simple:

1. Email with an inquiry about the dog you are interested in. If you are just ready to adopt but are not sure which of our dogs would be best suited our experts would be happy to advise in the best fit for your home.

2. We will send you an application for more information about your and your family. Upon receiving the filled out application we will set up a meet-and-greet.

3. The meet-and-greet is where you and your family get to meet our dogs. Please understand that our dogs are in foster homes so we must plan around your schedule and theirs. An average meet and greet will happen either on a weekend or a week day evening; it will last about an hour.

4. Lastly we bring the dog to your home. This is the final step in the adoption process. We try to bring the dogs into a new home on a friday or saturday so you have time to adjust the dog into your home before starting work again. If you have any other animals a trainer will assist in bring the dog into your house.

Our most important goal is for you and our dog to be as comfortable and happy!

Go meet their pets

We are completely foster based program. Our dogs are located throughout the island waiting to meet and greet with their future families.

If you would like to contribute to help save a dog. We are in great need of loving people who are willing to commit their time to our wondeful dogs.

Here's some ways to help:

Do you have some space in your house but don't want permanent family addition? Do you want to teach your kids some responsibility but not make a 15 year commitment? Consider becoming a foster parent!
Foster parents are wonderful people who dedicate their home and their time to our dogs for a little bit of time. A dog will be placed into your home to love and enjoy until they find a forever home. We provide the food, bedding and crates for our dogs. They will go into your home after they have been fully vetted. We do ask that you give our dogs lots of love and attention. We will also ask for up to date photos to get some exposure for the dogs. Our rescue cannot survive without our wonderful foster

If you are not able to foster we still would love to work with you! We are always in need of committed volunteers who like to do events. We are always interested in community involvement as well as doing Expos. If you are enthusiastic about being involved in the community and love animals we need your help! Expos and events are normally on the weekends so we welcome you to bring your friends to keep company and promote the work that we do. We never do on site adoptions so there is no stress at all. We normally bring one or two of our dogs to events. Call us today if you're interested!

Please help by sponsoring a life!
