Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Aruba, our sweet senior lady! This beautiful tuxedo girl is looking for some consistency and kindness. She loves to live a structured and quiet life and will do best in a home that gives her plenty of time to come out of her shell.
Aruba is considered to be a special care adoption due to having cystitis, which is inflammation of the bladder. Common symptoms are bloody urine, painful urination, and house-soiling. The exact cause is unknown, but stress can play a significant role; cystitis is rarely caused by an infection. Stressors for cats may include perceived threat (other animals or people), unpredictable activity or noise, inaccessibility of resources (litter boxes, food, water, people), and absence of enrichment (toys and other forms of mental stimulation).
* In her previous home, a new child caused stress for Aruba so we believe that a quiet, adult only home would be ideal. Aruba did live with another cat, so with proper gradual introduction, she likely could again, but she will need to be monitored for stress.
Aruba was started on a prescription diet that to improves urinary health and prevent urinary crystals and bladder stones. We strongly recommend that they remain on urinary care prescription diet indefinitely; please note that these diets are more expensive than regular food.
If you think you could give this little wallflower the water and sunlight she needs to grow into the confident old lady she deserves to be, come meet her today!
