Freddie Mercury is an adult cattle dog mix available for adoption through foster mom Kim Reno in the Yakima Valley, and his foster mom is happy to drive him to meet you if you’re not local.
This pup would do best in a home without young children. While sweet and affectionate with adults, he can feel overwhelmed by fast movements and loud energy. In a calm, respectful environment his true loving personality really shines.
Freddie Mercury is friendly, curious, and deeply affectionate — the kind of dog who brings warmth and joy into every interaction. He has a playful, happy spirit and a love for fetch that’s impossible to miss. Open a door, and Freddie heads straight for the ball, ready for his next game. His energy is enthusiastic but not overwhelming, making him a great balance of fun and companionship.
• Good with dogs
• Good with cats
• Leash trained
• Crate trained
• Potty trained
He’s an intelligent dog who enjoys having a purpose and will do best in a home that appreciates his joyful personality and is excited to keep building on his skills.
One of Freddie’s most striking features is his incredible jungle-cat–like markings. Along the entire left side of his body — including both front and back legs — you’ll see bold, distinctive markings that continue across his belly and side. Look closely and you’ll even spot what appears to be a little “cat face” hidden in his coat, making him as visually unique as he is lovable.
Freddie Mercury is ready to bring loyalty, laughter, and companionship to the right home — and he’s more than willing to travel to find it.

More about this rescue
About Northwest Working Breed Rescue
Northwest Working Breed Rescue is a foster-based rescue dedicated to helping working breed dogs in need. We focus on dogs who benefit from structure, engagement, and thoughtful placement — and we work hard to make sure each dog is set up for long-term success.
Our rescue was founded by people who combine a deep love for dogs with a practical, team-based approach. After years of fostering, transporting, and supporting rescue operations behind the scenes, we saw the need for a rescue that pairs compassion with strong systems, clear communication, and support for fosters and adopters alike.
We believe rescue should work well for everyone involved — the dogs, the fosters caring for them, and the families welcoming them home. Our process emphasizes appropriate medical care, behavioral support, and responsible matching, with multiple checkpoints to ensure each adoption is the right fit.
Every dog in our care lives in a foster home, where we can learn about their personality, needs, and strengths. This allows us to be transparent with adopters and create placements that last.
We do this work because every dog deserves a chance to be understood, supported, and loved — and because saving dogs is most effective when it’s done thoughtfully, collaboratively, and with intention.
