Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Swiss Roll has been through more than any cat ever should—and yet, somehow, he still chooses love.
Swiss Roll is one of the cats rescued from a heartbreaking and severe neglect case in Dayton’s Five Oaks neighborhood, where 33 animals were found living in unimaginable conditions. Despite enduring filth, confinement, and long-term neglect, Swiss Roll’s spirit was never broken. From the moment he was safe, his true personality began to shine.
He is an incredibly sweet and loving boy who craves connection. Swiss Roll is very talkative—he’ll happily tell you all about his day—and he absolutely adores snuggles, pets, and being the center of attention. He leans into affection with gratitude, as if he knows what it means to finally be safe and cared for.
Once he arrived at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton and settled into a clean, quiet space with soft bedding, food, and water, the transformation was immediate. Swiss Roll relaxed, sought comfort from people, and showed just how gentle and affectionate he truly is.
Swiss Roll is now receiving the care and love he deserves, and he’s ready for the next chapter of his life—a forever home filled with kindness, warmth, and companionship. He has so much love to give, and he’s waiting patiently for someone to give him the happy ending he’s earned. 🐾💙

More about this shelter
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill animal welfare agency. We are committed to finding great homes for great pets! As a 501(c)(3) nonproft, we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from individuals, companies and grants to fund our programs and services. We are not affiliated with any other animal agency on a local, state or national level. Since 1902, our organization has been devoted to being a voice for the voiceless. Although we proudly find more than 2,000 animals forever homes every year, we are far more than an adoption center. We currently have a wide array of programs to support animals in our community. Through our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, we are able to help pet owners as well as battle cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return. Our humane society agents also work tirelessly to protect pets from cruel and neglectful circumstances through our Cruelty & Neglect Investigations Department. Through our Veterinary Hospital, we can provide top-quality access to veterinary care at a low cost to pet owners. In addition to our many programs, our organization is unique because we are the only agency in the community able to handle all types of animals. This includes cats and dogs but also rabbits, birds, farm animals, pocket pets and exotics. Our organization is committed to providing our community, our state and our region with support and care.
