Jelly Roll is living proof that love can survive even the hardest beginnings.
He was rescued as part of one of the most severe neglect cases the Humane Society of Greater Dayton has encountered in recent years. Jelly Roll came from a home where 33 animals were rescued from an environment filled with filth, overcrowding, and unimaginable neglect—yet despite everything he endured, his heart remained wide open.
Jelly Roll is incredibly sweet and affectionate and absolutely lives for attention. He loves being loved and will happily roll all over, showing off just how cute he is, especially when pets and snuggles are involved. His gentle, loving nature shines through in every interaction, and he seems to soak up kindness like he’s been waiting for it his whole life.
Once he was removed from those devastating conditions and placed into a clean, safe space with soft bedding, food, and fresh water, the change was immediate. Jelly Roll relaxed, leaned into affection, and showed everyone just how special he truly is.
He will make a wonderful addition to any home that’s ready to give him the love, comfort, and security he deserves. Jelly Roll has so much affection to give, and he’s ready to spend the rest of his life being cherished—exactly as he should be. 🐾💙

More about this shelter
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill animal welfare agency. We are committed to finding great homes for great pets! As a 501(c)(3) nonproft, we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from individuals, companies and grants to fund our programs and services. We are not affiliated with any other animal agency on a local, state or national level. Since 1902, our organization has been devoted to being a voice for the voiceless. Although we proudly find more than 2,000 animals forever homes every year, we are far more than an adoption center. We currently have a wide array of programs to support animals in our community. Through our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, we are able to help pet owners as well as battle cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return. Our humane society agents also work tirelessly to protect pets from cruel and neglectful circumstances through our Cruelty & Neglect Investigations Department. Through our Veterinary Hospital, we can provide top-quality access to veterinary care at a low cost to pet owners. In addition to our many programs, our organization is unique because we are the only agency in the community able to handle all types of animals. This includes cats and dogs but also rabbits, birds, farm animals, pocket pets and exotics. Our organization is committed to providing our community, our state and our region with support and care.
