My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Inara has quite the story—she was rescued by a kind police officer after being caught in a trap in Alabama, and she’s been on a journey toward her happy ending ever since. New situations can make her a little shy at first, but with patience, gentle reassurance, and a calm approach, she opens up beautifully. Once she feels safe, Inara quickly becomes everyone’s friend and loves being part of the action.

She walks well on leash and enjoys peaceful strolls where she can take in the world at her own pace. And those gorgeous tiger-striped markings? They give her a one-of-a-kind look—like she’s always dressed in designer stripes. Inara is searching for a stable, loving home that will give her the time and security she needs to truly shine. With the right family, she’ll reward you with loyalty, sweetness, and a very special bond.

More about this shelter

We serve the pets and people in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. Our mission is clear: To take responsibility for each and every orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected dog and cat which reaches our doors; to take them in and shelter them; to provide the best medical and physical care possible for them; to nurture them back to health if need be; and finally to place them into warm, loving, adoptive homes where they can enjoy the lives they deserve.
