Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Oatmeal 🤍
Oatmeal is a quiet, gentle soul who is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place.
He was rescued as part of one of the most severe neglect cases the Humane Society of Greater Dayton has encountered in recent years. After living with 33 other animals in long-term filth, confinement, and neglect, it’s completely understandable that Oatmeal feels nervous and unsure as he adjusts to his new surroundings.
Oatmeal is currently in our open cat room, where we hope he will continue to gain confidence and slowly come out of his shell. You can tell he wants to be sweet—there’s a softness about him that shows he’s just waiting for someone to show him what love and safety truly feel like.
He will thrive best in a kind, quiet, and patient home with an adopter who understands that trust takes time. With gentle reassurance, consistency, and plenty of patience, Oatmeal’s true loving personality will shine through.
Oatmeal is receiving love and care and is surrounded by people who believe in him. Now, he’s looking for a compassionate home willing to give him the time and love he’s always deserved. 🐾✨

More about this shelter
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill animal welfare agency. We are committed to finding great homes for great pets! As a 501(c)(3) nonproft, we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from individuals, companies and grants to fund our programs and services. We are not affiliated with any other animal agency on a local, state or national level. Since 1902, our organization has been devoted to being a voice for the voiceless. Although we proudly find more than 2,000 animals forever homes every year, we are far more than an adoption center. We currently have a wide array of programs to support animals in our community. Through our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, we are able to help pet owners as well as battle cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return. Our humane society agents also work tirelessly to protect pets from cruel and neglectful circumstances through our Cruelty & Neglect Investigations Department. Through our Veterinary Hospital, we can provide top-quality access to veterinary care at a low cost to pet owners. In addition to our many programs, our organization is unique because we are the only agency in the community able to handle all types of animals. This includes cats and dogs but also rabbits, birds, farm animals, pocket pets and exotics. Our organization is committed to providing our community, our state and our region with support and care.
