My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pretty Girl is a lovely senior lady who is beautiful both inside and out. Her foster family shared with us that while they`ve fostered many wonderful kitties, they can’t remember meeting one as gentle and sweet as Pretty Girl. Pretty Girl came to the shelter when her owner was sadly no longer able to care for her. After spending so many years of her life in peaceful, quiet home, the shelter was a big adjustment! Luckily Pretty`s Girl`s foster family stepped up to help her relax and learn to trust her shelter friends. While Pretty Girl tends to stick to the safety of her hiding space, she absolutely adores gentle pets and scritches. Since she is overweight and can`t groom herself, she loves when her humans friends help by brushing or wiping her down with a damp cloth. She`ll even roll onto her back purring for belly brushes! When Pretty Girl gains confidence, she loves playing with her catnip banana, looking out the window, or curling up in a trusted human`s lap. Pretty Girl showed curiosity about the gentle kitty in her foster home and may be able to live with other cats following a slow introduction. She will require a slow, controlled weight loss plan to help take the extra stress off her joints and organs. If you have a quiet home and some extra love to give to a kitty who needs it, reach out to CHS today!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
