Rex is a 3-year-old sweetheart who has clearly been through more than his fair share—but you’d never know it by the way he loves. His scars may hint at a tough past, but Rex doesn’t let it define him. He’s a happy, affectionate boy who is eager to soak up all the love life has to offer.
Rex is a total people-dog. He enjoys walks, lives for snuggle time, and absolutely lights up when a tennis ball is involved. He has spent time in a busy office environment and has proven to be friendly and welcoming with new faces coming and going throughout the day.
Rex has not yet been tested with other dogs, cats, or children, so adopters should be open to continued introductions and learning together. With patience, love, and consistency, Rex is going to make an incredibly loyal companion.
If you would like to meet Rex, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received.
**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
