Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mouser • Nervous Negotiator • Treat Connoisseur
Enigma is a 1.5-year-old, 9 lb silver-grey short hair tabby with a cautious nature and very clear boundaries. He’s a thoughtful observer who can tolerate a human standing a few feet away—as long as food or a treat is involved. Without snacks, all bets are off.
When his kennel door is opened, Enigma follows a predictable (and very honest) routine: retreat, find a corner, and issue a firm warning hiss to make sure everyone understands the terms of engagement. He’s not aggressive—just very clear about needing space.
Enigma is part of our Mouser/Barn Cat Program and is seeking a managed outdoor working home. He is not release-able to his original location, as he repeatedly returned to former haunts where his presence as an all-natural pest control solution was not appreciated. He now needs a new, stable placement where he can settle in safely and stay put.
Enigma’s Highlights: Nervous but food-motivated Will tolerate proximity for treats (especially lickable ones—his favorite) Not handleable and not interested in being pushed past his comfort zone Communicates clearly with body language and hisses
Ideal Home: Barn, warehouse, workshop, or similar outdoor working environment Consistent routine with minimal pressure for interaction Caretaker who respects boundaries and understands mouser cats Someone willing to earn his trust slowly—preferably with lickable treats
Enigma isn’t a mystery so much as a specialist: give him space, consistency, and snacks, and he’ll coexist on his own careful terms. If you’re looking for a mouser who values independence and clear communication, Enigma may be the right fit.
