My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a best friend in dog form? Look no further! Charlie Brown is ready to step in!

Charlie Brown is the kind of dog who will always be wondering what you’re doing and if he can help in any way. He is nosy and wants to be in your business because that’s what furry best friends do! Charlie Brown is about 50lbs so the perfect mid size. Who wouldn’t want the perfect size dog? He is about a year old so he is trainable and moldable! He is already kennel trained, potty trained and has wonderful house manners. We believe Charlie here is a certified Texas special. What’s Texas special you ask? It’s a little bit of everything! Some hound, some Rhodesian Ridgeback, maybe some lab– and who knows, maybe some type of small dog! He is a fun mystery. He’s got the most beautiful red coat and expressive eyes that will melt the hearts of all.

Watch Charlie Brown in all his glory here!

If you're looking for a devoted best friend to share your days, Charlie IS your perfect match.
His favorite thing in the world? Belly rubs. Lots of them. He leans into affection like he’s waited his whole life for it, and in many ways, he probably has.He makes the best snuggler because he loves the couch. In fact, he loves the couch so much, that’s where he secretly hides all his bones and treasures! It’s the best thing in the world to watch. He thinks he is so sneaky, so we let him believe he truly is.Toys are his absolute favorite so make sure you’re stocked up for this guy! You will often find Charlie napping with his selected favorite stuffy of the day under his chin.

Evening time at his foster home is one of his favorite times of the day. Lights low, belly rubs, blankets, cuddles, a stuffy nearby, and his foster mom giving him all the belly rubs while she watches TV’s. Does this sound like your kind of night? In case we didn’t mention it enough. HE WILL DO ANYTHING FOR BELLY RUBS.

Charlie currently lives with two human fosters and two doggy foster siblings. He’s happiest when he’s close to his people, whether it’s curled at your feet while you work from home or trotting by your side on quiet trails. His fosters have done an incredible job of showing Charlie the great things and people he can see and meet in the world to help him find his perfect match! Charlie loves going to the beach, he is a fantastic car rider and has gone and several car rides longer than a couple of hours. Charlie visited downtown on a busy day with lots of people coming by and was happy as could be. He made sure to check in with his handlers and know that everything was good! Charlie has even visited the Hill Country here in Texas and as you can guess… He LOVED IT!

While he may take a little time to warm up, he likes calm, kind, patient dogs that have a playful side. He is definitely a ladies man. Charlie is fostered with a sweet, senior Golden Retriever and the King of the Castle GSD. It was love at first sight with his foster sister and with his foster brother it took some time for them to get into a groove. He loves to tandem walk with them and they go on multiple walks a day! Sometimes, she will stop along their walks so Charlie Brown helps redirect her by getting her attention forward. It’s hilarious! He is not a pushy playmate and will back down if the other dog doesn’t want to play. We think a younger female playmate would suit him best. He could also thrive as the only dog in the home, especially if he has a human who’s around often to keep him company.

Charlie can be a vocal guy. Only when he misses you so much though. Who knows what kind of singing breeds he has in him! Because of this, a home with nice thick walls may be best. No apartments please! He would also absolutely love a backyard of his own to stretch out and sunbathe in. If you have a pool, his foster parents have one and he knows how to follow all the pool rules. Charlie isn’t throwing any pool parties. This guy loves to be outside with the sunshine beaming down and being able to let loose with those zoomies. Speaking of the perfect home, Charlie would prefer one that doesn’t have any kitties. He is a bit too interested in them so a home without would be best. As friendly as he is, he is a little too friendly with the feline crowd!

While he hasn’t lived with children, he showed a gentle curiosity toward our five year old friend during his visit. Although, he would do best with older, respectful kids who understand how to give a dog space and kindness. He is slower to warm up so he really needs his space at first and we believe older children will understand this better! He loves all people but needs some time to warm up before hugs and kisses. Once he warms up and settles in, you’ll never have a better friend than him. He is extremely loyal, sweet and will stick by your side through thick and thin.

Charlie is quite the adventurer! He has already gone on many trips with his foster parents to different cities around Texas! His fosters have done an incredible job of showing Charlie the great things, and numerous people he can see and meet in the world to help socialize him and find his perfect match! When they first got him, they knew he was a sweet soul that needed time to get to know and trust the new world around him. Charlie loves going to the beach, he is a fantastic car rider and has gone and several car rides-longer than a couple of hours. Charlie visited old downtown on a busy day with lots of people coming by and was happy as could be. He made sure to check in with his handlers and know that everything was good! Charlie has even visited the Hill Country here in Texas and as you can guess… He LOVED IT! He is ready to join you on your future adventures as well! Be prepared to have some patience as he can be a little on the nervous side at first. We don’t know what his background was so we’re sure that’s why he can be a nervous nelly sometimes. But who doesn’t get nervous here and there? It’s natural when you go anywhere new. Where are the introvert/extroverts at?? lol iykyk

Charlie Brown is the kind of soul who gives back tenfold what he receives. He is guaranteed to become the most loyal companion you could ever imagine, your shadow, your snuggle buddy, your greatest fan. He will love you unconditionally and it’s 100% worth it. He is a true gentleman with a whole heart to give you.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about creating lasting matches between dog and family for long term success, and take the time to ensure each adoption is a fit through our matchmaking process.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
