My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🚫 NON-NEGOTIABLE — ADULT-ONLY HOME REQUIRED
Scruffy is displaying ongoing mouthing and nipping behaviors.

For this reason:
Homes with children will NOT be considered — under any circumstances.

This includes, but is not limited to:
• Children living in the home
• Regular or occasional visits from children
• Childcare, babysitting, or playdate environments
• Homes planning to have children in the future
There will be NO exceptions.

This requirement is in place to ensure the safety of everyone involved and to give Scruffy the structure and consistency he needs to succeed.

Scruffy must be placed in an adult-only home committed to structure, management, and continued force-free, positive-reinforcement training.

🚫 Applications that do not meet this requirement will not receive a response.

📍 Adoption Area — PLEASE READ
We do not adopt outside of Alberta or Canada.

We adopt ONLY to the following communities:
Edmonton, Spruce Grove, Fort Saskatchewan, Stony Plain, St. Albert, Leduc, Beaumont, Sherwood Park, and Devon.

🚫 Applications from outside these locations will not be considered.

As a 100% volunteer-run rescue, our resources are limited and we are unable to expand beyond this region.

Please only email us if you live within our adoption area.

📧 To Apply:
Email Heartprintsdogadoptions@gmail.com to request our “About Our Rescue” document.

A detailed bio is required. Please include:
• Your family and household makeup.
• Home environment (busy/loud or quiet).
• Yard details and type of fencing.
• Hours the dog would be left alone.

🚫 Only applications that include a bio will be contacted.

🐾 MEET SCRUFFY 🐾
Active • Smart • All-In on Life
Scruffy is a very active Schnauzer–Poodle mix puppy looking for an adopter who truly enjoys doing things with their dog. If flyball, agility, rally obedience, or structured enrichment training sounds exciting — Scruffy is your boy.

This is not a couch-potato puppy. Scruffy thrives on routine, mental stimulation, encouragement, and having a job to do.

He is seeking an adult-only home that will channel his enthusiasm into positive, structured outlets.

🏡 House Training
Scruffy is mostly house trained in his foster home. As with many puppies, a short adjustment period should be expected when transitioning to a new environment. Consistency and patience are essential.

💦 Excited Pee Alert
Scruffy loves people — sometimes a little too much. He can experience excited urination when meeting new people.

This is currently being managed with belly bands, crate decompression, and calm greetings. Continued training will be required.

❤️ Personality
Happy, affectionate, people-loving, and always ready to go. Scruffy bonds deeply with his people and will thrive with adopters who enjoy training, activity, and engagement.

More about this rescue

We are a 100% not-for-profit, volunteer-run society located in the Edmonton Capital Region. Heart Prints Dog Rescue Society is a foster home–based rescue — we do not operate a shelter. We work closely with several Alberta rescue groups to help small- and toy-breed dogs in need. When a dog requires help, we arrange transport to our foster network, where they receive care, stability, and love until a forever home is found. Our mission is to provide safety, compassion, and a second chance to dogs whose owners are no longer able to care for them.
