Submitting an application is important. Visit www.SandyPawsRescue.com to get started.
Please read our FAQ page before applying.
An Adopt-a-Pet inquiry is not an application.
Be sure to email us after you apply so we can find your application in our system.
We do not place dogs first come, first served—dogs are placed based on best fit.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION IS IMPORTANT. WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM TO START. READ OUR FAQ FIRST. ADOPTAPET INQUIRY IS NOT AN APPLICATION.
  2. Interview
    1. If we feel you’re a good fit, we’ll schedule a phone call. Timing varies—could be 3 days or 3+ weeks. A call doesn’t guarantee approval.
  3. Home Check
    1. A home tour video is required—show common areas, yard, and where the dog will sleep. Full details are on our FAQ page.
  4. Approve Application
    1. All applications are screened. Approval doesn’t guarantee a specific dog. Please see our FAQ page for details.
  5. Meet the Pet
    1. Dogs in local MA foster can be met after approval. Some are pre-adopt only—no meet first, commit before arrival. Details on our site.
  6. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. All adopters must sign a legal adoption contract before bringing a dog home. No exceptions. Details are on our website.
  7. Pay Fee
    1. Adoption fees apply. Visit our site + FAQ page for details before applying. Thank you for understanding and supporting rescue!

More about this rescue

Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. is a 100% volunteer-run organization. We are primarily based on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, with foster homes throughout Massachusetts, including the South Shore, Plymouth area, and Rhode Island. Unless otherwise noted, our dogs travel from the South to find loving homes here.

We do our best to respond to every inquiry, but due to high volume and our all-volunteer team, this is not always possible. We truly appreciate your patience and support of rescue work.
